Gatwick Airport bus was smooth

Used the Airport Bus Service to get to Gatwick from my hotel this past weekend. I bought a Single Ticket on the bus with my card, which was super convenient. The driver was friendly enough, and the journey was pretty quick, no major delays. It beat trying to find a taxi or bothering with parking. Overall, it was a chill ride, got me there with plenty of time before my flight. Happy with it.

Easy Day Ticket purchase

I needed a Day Ticket for travel around Crawley. Used the mobile app. It was simple to buy and activate. Boarding was quick with the QR code. Bus ran on time, which was good.

Consistent service for my commute

I've been using Metrobus for my daily commute to Brighton for over two years now, mostly with the 4 Week Ticket on my Key Smartcard. This latest renewal was as smooth as always; I topped it up online the night before. The Fastway Bus Service is usually reliable, even during peak times in September when things get a bit hectic with students. Compared to Southern Railway, it's generally a more predictable journey for me, especially avoiding the train strikes. There was one day last week the bus was about 10 minutes late, which happens, but usually it's spot on. It's why I keep coming back.

Does anyone know if Metrobus has any deals for students? Need to get to college in East Grinstead.

A Alex 2 months ago
They totally do! My niece gets a student pass for her college. You just need to show your student ID, I think.

Yeah, they have specific student bus passes. You can probably get it on their app or 'The Key' smartcard. Just make sure you have proof of your student status.

Thinking of getting a weekly pass for my commute to Crawley. Is it way cheaper than just buying daily tickets with contactless?

N Neil B. 2 months ago
Yeah, definitely cheaper. I save a good bit with my Horsham Metrorider weekly pass compared to tapping my card every day. You should look into the Crawley Metrorider.

They usually say you save like 10-30% by switching to weekly or monthly passes on the app. It adds up fast if you're using it every day.

Can I buy tickets on the bus with my phone or do I need to get 'The Key' smartcard beforehand?

R Rachel Reyes 2 months ago
You can use contactless on the bus, so your phone should work for single tickets. But for passes like a weekly, you'd usually use their app or 'The Key' to get the discounts.

Just tap your card or phone for single/return. For better deals, especially weekly or monthly, download the Metrobus app or get The Key. Way easier to manage passes that way.

Comparing Metrobus to Stagecoach for my Gatwick Airport trips. Which one is generally more reliable or has better service to the airport?

L Laura 3 months ago
Metrobus has that Fastway service to Gatwick, it's pretty good and frequent. I've always found it reliable.

I've used both. Metrobus Fastway is decent for Gatwick, seems pretty direct. Stagecoach covers different areas sometimes, so depends where you're starting from too.
